Resources

Below are a list of charities and organisations that do amazing work in the UK. They've helped pave the way for our campaign and also have a bunch of educational resources on their websites to help if you want to learn more about any particular subject.

All profits from our store go towards these charities, making sure that equality is always being fought for, even when you're sipping tea from a cactus-covered mug.

Your Rights

Your Rights

It's come to our attention that a majority of people don't know their rights. So we'd like to help. Below you'll find summaries of acts and legislation which may apply to you. Hovering over the boxes will give a more detailed version of this summary.

If that still isn't enough information for you, the "learn more" option will take you to the official UK government's page, breaking down each act/law. There is also a list of other helpful resources for understanding what your rights are.

Human Rights Act

(1998)

"...sets out the fundamental rights and freedoms that everyone in the UK is entitled to."

www.equalityhumanrights.com
The Human Rights Act 1998 sets out the fundamental rights and freedoms that everyone in the UK is entitled to. It incorporates the rights set out in the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) into domestic British law. The Human Rights Act came into force in the UK in October 2000.

Gender Recognition Act

(2004)

"...allows people who have gender dysphoria to change their legal gender."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_Recognition_Act_2004
The Gender Recognition Act was brought in to "provide transsexual people with legal recognition in their acquired gender. Legal recognition will follow from the issue of a full gender recognition certificate by a Gender Recognition Panel."

Equality Act

(2010)

"...legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society."

www.gov.uk/guidance/equality-act-2010-guidance
The Equality Act provides a legal framework to protect the rights of individuals and advance equality of opportunity for all. It provides Britain with a discrimination law which protects individuals from unfair treatment and promotes a fair and equal society.
